What is the difference between cross-docking and transloading?
Cross-docking moves freight from inbound trucks straight to outbound trucks with little or no storage in between. Transloading moves cargo from one mode or container to another, such as from a 40-foot ocean container into a 53-foot trailer. Both cut storage costs and transit time.
Why transload in Phoenix?
Phoenix is about a day’s drive from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Importers move containers inland to avoid coastal congestion and higher warehouse rates, then distribute across the Southwest from Arizona.
